Welcome to Read, Think, Ponder!
CW (cw @ readthinkponder)
CW is short for a name that she had to learn to love — and now that she does, she wouldn’t give it up for the world. She blogs and writes book reviews in the hopes that she doesn’t forget how to write critically, now that the longest things she writes – other than reviews – are emails at work, and does all the illustrations for Read, Think, Ponder, lest she forgets how to do that too.
After graduating from university, studying a Psychology and Sociology degree, CW worked in a job-completely-unrelated-to-her-degree for two and a half years. Now, she is pursuing postgraduate study and is in the process of completing her Honours in Psychology.
Some of her favourite genres include young adult, fantasy, and science-fiction, whilst her interest in non-fiction and academia lie in social psychology, gender studies, ethnic studies, as well as studies on ideology and power. Personal favourites include Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro, Not Your Sidekick by C.B. Lee, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – just to name a few.
Like all avid readers, CW is on an endless search for the next good book. Critically analyzing books with a sociological lens, engaging with social commentary located in books and praxis, and finding refreshing reads that do not utilize age-old cliches and tropes are not only an intellectual exercise for her, but it’s a few of her favourite things. When she isn’t reading, you may find her playing video games, fitness, painting, baking, and engaging in constructive, positive discussions about social issues. She’s also a passionate feminist who follows intersectional theory, and is an INFJ.
CW wishes you happy reading, and hopes that you remember that you are never powerless.
